A new Alien: Covenant prologue connects the film to Prometheus
20th Century Fox has released a new clip from Alien: Covenant and it shows off how the film connects to the last entry in the franchise, Prometheus. While the movie’s trailers have gone to great lengths to make viewers forget about Scott’s disappointing side film, this clip shows that Prometheus will have a role to play in this year’s film.
This new clip is designed to bridge the gap between this film and Scott’s underwhelming side entry for the franchise.
A new The Three-Body Problem audiobook is coming just in time for Netflixs show
In Netflix’s new adaptation of Cixin Liu’s novel The Three-Body Problem, actress Rosalind Chao portrays one of the brilliant minds mobilized into action by the presence of a threat with the potential to wipe out humanity. But in Macmillan’s forthcoming The Three-Body Problem audiobook recording, Chao will bring the entire world of Liu’s novel to life with the sound of her voice.
Ahead of the March 21st debut of Netflix’s 3 Body Problem, Macmillan Audio has tapped Chao to narrate its new recording of The Three-Body Problem — the first book in Liu’s Remembrance of Earth’s Past trilogy chronicling the story of how humanity responds after making first contact with aliens.
Acer's hilariously aggressive gaming PC and tablet lineup is coming this fall
Along with a lot of other new PCs, Acer has announced more details — including pricing and availability — for the gaming lineup it unveiled in April. The "Predator" series encompasses Windows 10 laptops and desktop PCs, monitors, an Android tablet, and potentially smartphones or projectors in the future. Not only do we know the general specifications of these very powerful, extremely silly-looking machines, we know they'll be coming this fall.

AI-generated recipes wont get you to Flavortown
Last year, as an experiment, I baked cakes from recipes generated by ChatGPT and Bard. It went better than I expected — because much of each recipe didn’t seem created by AI at all.
The recipes I got were eerily familiar to recipes I’ve seen on food blogs or Instagram. They’d been slightly changed, and only Bard (now called Gemini) bothered offering attribution, linking to a recipe from Sally’s Baking Addiction.
AKG N60NC headphones review: converting the non-believers
Fun fact: most on-ear headphones are terrible. Offering neither the full-bodied sound of over-ear cans nor the minimalist discreetness and portability of earbuds, they're pretty much the point-and-shoot cameras of the audio world. But, just as compact cameras still have quirky superstars like Sony's RX100 among them, on-ear headphones have happy exceptions, too, and this is one of those few: AKG's N60NC noise-canceling on-ears.
Costing five cents shy of $250, the N60NCs are not cheap.
A welcome trend is well underway in the realm of gaming laptops: some of them are getting smaller. The latest company to get on board with this is Alienware and its new X14. This is a thin 14-inch gaming laptop that’s completely different from anything else that the company offers. There’s now something on Alienware’s menu for people who still see gaming as the main course yet also hold portability in high regard.
Alphabets top lawyer is leaving with no exit package following misconduct scandals
David Drummond, Alphabet’s chief legal officer and one of the longest-serving and highest tenure Google employees, is leaving the company at the end of the month. The news was first reported Friday by Forbes, and an Alphabet spokesperson later confirmed his departure to The Verge. The spokesperson says Drummond will not be receiving an exit package. The two had a child together, which led to Blakely voluntarily switching departments after Google’s human resources department deemed the situation a violation of its corporate policies.
Amazon abandons $1.4 billion deal to buy Roomba maker iRobot
Amazon’s deal to buy Roomba maker iRobot is off, the companies announced today, after iRobot said the deal has “no path to regulatory approval in the European Union.” iRobot is also announcing that it’s laying off around 350 employees, or around 31 percent of its workforce as part of a restructuring. It expects to notify the majority of affected employees by the end of March.
As part of the announcement, iRobot chair and CEO Colin Angle, who co-founded the company in 1990, is stepping down from both roles.
Amazon closes Anime Strike and includes exclusive anime in Prime Video
One year after its announcement, Amazon is canceling Anime Strike, its anime streaming service. The dozens of anime shows and films it offered will now be included on its Amazon Prime subscription service instead. Today, Anime Strike’s Twitter page shut down and the exclusives section on its website is now empty, as first spotted by Kotaku.
The news is a boon for anime fans in the US — or at least those who subscribe to Amazon Prime.
